BRTS 10 year anniversary conference: a brief review
Submitted by webmaster on 9. January 2009 - 14:21.
At the end of the last year Baltic Reformed Theological Seminary celebrated its 10-year anniversary. The main purpose of the Seminary is to train and equip ministers of the Word and church leaders who would be faithful to the Scriptures and their calling. In order to celebrate the anniversary BRTS together with Riga Reformed Bible Church and Riga Reformed Church organized anniversary conference "STAYING FAITHFUL TO THE WORD IN THE CHANGING WORLD". It took place in November 15 in the historical Reformed church in the Old Riga.
One of the main purposes of the conference was to strengthen and encourage BRTS students, supporters and those who are interested in the work of our Seminary. During the lectures the participants were reminded that the fithfulness to the Word of God has helped the Church to overcome the greatest crisis and struggles. The speakers presented the following lectures:
- "God has spoken again: Jesus, Scriptures and the NT authors" - Dr. Gordon Campbell (University of Belfast, Ireland);
- "Reformation: how the preached Word changed Europe?" - Dr. Joseph Hall (Emeritus, Covenant Theological Seminary, USA);
- "Unchanging Word in the challenged world" - Dr. Thomas Johnson (Martin Bucer Seminary, Germany);
- "Why do we need theological education in the 21st century?" - Dr. David Ludwick (ITEM president, USA)
We are planning to publish the lecture transcripts in our website under the heading "Articles".
At the end of the anniversary conference there was a graduation ceremony for two pastoral track students who received diploma upon completing long and serious studies at BRTS.
BRTS board and administration is grateful to all professors, supporters and friends for this opportunity to serve the church in this part of the world. And we believe that God has a special plan for the region around the Baltic sea and BRTS is proud about the work it can do in preparing new ministers and church leaders!
